Institute Park hosts a number of activities, festivals, and events throughout the year. A notable annual attraction is the Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra’s admission-free Summer Family Concert Series which celebrated its 70th year in 2021. Significant gatherings that have brought vitality and large crowds to the park include Black Heritage’s Juneteenth Festival, and the Caribbean American Festival, among many others.

Patriotic Pops Concert with Fireworks -- Monday, July 3, 2023, 7:45 P.M. -- FREE
Myron Romanul, Conductor; Gary Rosen, Master of Ceremonies; Jane Shivick and Christon Carney, vocal soloists. This concert featuring the Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra is a patriotic pops concert to celebrate the national Independence Day holiday. Music primarily of American composers including Copland, Gould, and Williams. The concert will conclude with Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture and Sousa's Stars and Stripes Forever, accompanied by fireworks in Institute Park. Rain date: Tuesday, July 4. Jazz Brasileiro in the Park: Brazilian Influences from Latin America -- Sunday, July 9, 2023, 7 P.M. -- FREE
Jorge Soto, Conductor; Natalia Hubner, vocal soloist. In association with the Latin American Business Organization, this concert will feature members of the Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra along with special guest artists and members of the Berklee College of Music faculty in an evening of Brazilian jazz.
